HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - The Hampton Police Division will be increasing its police presence at local theaters in light of the recent theater massacre in Colorado.
According to an alert issued by the Hampton Police Division, officers will be present at all local theaters as well as patrolling areas in an effort to reassure the public’s safety as well as easing any concerns.
This comes hours after a gunman opened fire during a midnight screening of the Dark Knight Rises at an Aurora, Colo. theater, killing 12 people and wounding dozens more, including a Virginia Beach native .

Hampton Police encourage all citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
