Help needed to catch 'vicious' pit bull

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - The Hampton Animal Control Division is asked for the public’s help in locating a pit bull officers say is vicious.

Capt. Sue Canny with the Hampton Animal Control Division said officers were called to the 200 block of West Kelly Street Wednesday for a report of two loose pit bulls. When they arrived, they found the two dogs had attacked another pit bull.

That pit bull died as a result of the attack.

According to Canny, one of the pit bulls was captured by officers, but the second was able to escape in the area of Old Buckroe Road and East Mercury Boulevard.

“Animal Control officers were able to verify that the male pit bull that was captured is extremely aggressive toward all other dogs,” Canny said.

The missing pit bull is described as a dark reddish-blue brindle marked female. She is about 40 to 45 pounds and is possibly wearing a light collar. As the dog is aggressive toward other dogs, she may be aggressive toward people.

Residents are asked not to approach the dog if spotted and should contact Hampton Animal Control right away at 757-727-6111.

The dogs’ owner has not been located. Anyone with information as to who owns the dogs should also call Hampton Animal Control.
