NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk Fire and Rescue and the Virginia Beach Fire Department proudly put on the pink to raise awareness for breast cancer with their Pink Heals Tour .
The departments rolled pink fire trucks into Norfolk on Thursday afternoon.
The tour included live entertainment, a pull the pink fire truck strongman competition, and an art show.
"I do think it's working because even last year, when we were watching football, we were seeing the football players wearing pink too. It just makes you feel good inside, you know? People care about you," said Dawn Altmanrussell, a breast cancer survivor.
Proceeds from Thursday's event will benefit the Cancer Care Foundation of Tidewater and the Tidewater chapter of Susan G. Komen .
