GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) - An escaped Gloucester inmate was located a day after ditching his GPS tracking bracelet during his work release.
According to Scott Little with the Gloucester Sheriff's Department, 26-year-old Daniel Gay, Jr. was located around 4 p.m. Tuesday off of George Washington Memorial Highway. Little says Gay was spotted in the area of Belroi Road, and led police on a short foot pursuit.
Gay was arrested and charged with one count of escaped prisoner from work release program and obstruction of justice. Additional charges are pending, as well as new bond.
Gay was serving a one-year sentence for failing to pay child support. He also has a D.U.I. arrest on his criminal record.
