SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - A dog shot in the snout and left on a Surry County doorstep was reunited with its owner Monday evening.
According to Melissa Wischmeier with Dogs Deserve Better in Surry County, the dog was left on the doorstep of a Dogs Deserve Better worker. The dog, Leah, was treated at Roger’s Veterinary Hospital in Smithfield.
Dr. Kathryn Bouvier at Roger's Veterinary Hospital said there is a trail of bullet fragments from Leah's snout where she was shot all the way to her spinal chord. Bouvier said the main concern now is fragment moving or infection.
