ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) - A Coast Guard crew pulled three people from a sinking sailboat on the Pasquotank River Saturday afternoon.
A sailor aboard the 32-foot Grace called Coast Guard Sector North Carolina about 2:45 p.m. The caller reported their boat had hit a submerged piling, and they were taking on water. The boat had 14 inches of water in the hull, the caller reported.
Sector North Carolina watchstanders dispatched a crew aboard a 25-foot response boat from Guard Station Elizabeth City. Once on scene, the crew removed the three people from the boat and took them to Lambs Marina in Camden, N.C.
Tow Boat U.S. was scheduled to salvage the craft.
The Coast Guard said the sailboat was not blocking the channel and had no reports of pollution.
