CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - One person was found dead after a house fire in the Western Branch section of Chesapeake Thursday morning.
Capt. Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department said the fire sparked in the 1800 block of Crossbow Court around 4:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they found light smoke showing from the back of the home.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control around 4:52 and out after 5 a.m.
The two-story home sustained moderate damage to one bedroom. Saunders said there is one fatality associated with the fire. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Lisa R. Dial. She lived in the home.
Neighbors say she was one of two women that lived in the home.
"It's a very quiet house," neighbor Nikki Curry said. "You seldom see them and when you do see them, everybody just waves and it's all good. I'm sorry to hear of their loss. I know the young lady is devastated because she took care of everything in the house."
The fire re-sparked Thursday evening.
The fire is under investigation at this time but is believed to be accidental in nature. Saunders said a possible cause was combustible materials too close to a heat source.
