CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A family of four lost their pets in a house fire along Dawnee Brooke Trail in Chesapeake Saturday night.
Capt. Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department told WAVY.com the fire sparked around 9 p.m. in the 2000 block of Dawnee Brooke Trail. When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke coming from the garage.
While the fire was under control in about 15 minutes, Saunders said the flames cause substantial damage to the home. Two dogs and one cat were found dead and were unable to be resuscitated.
No other injures were reported and the family of four stayed with family members in the area, Saunders said. They were not home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire has been ruled electrical in nature in the kitchen.
