CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A troubled Chesapeake night club has been transformed into a biker church.
The Great Bridge building that used to house Blakely's Nightclub closed two years ago after losing its alcohol license. Now, the place once plagued by crime and complaints, goes by the name Freedom Biker Church. This congregation doesn't attract your traditional worshipers, though. People from all walks of life are welcome
"If you've got tattoos, if you want to wear short sleeves, t-shirts, if you're life is a mess, come without thinking you've got to clean it all up," said Jeremey Scott, a church goer. "Don't feel like you have to clean your clothes up, clean your language up, that stuff doesn't happen, as far as wanting to come here. Just come and show yourself and we'll meet you where you are and meet you with the love of God."
The pastors who founded Freedom Biker Church opened their first location in Virginia Beach. Both are avid bikers.
