CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake police need your help identifying the suspect in a credit card theft case.
Police say on Jan. 22, a 79-year-old woman was shopping in the 1100 block of South Military Highway when another shopper in the store engaged her in conversation. When the victim reached into her purse to pay for her items, she noticed her wallet was missing. The pleasant woman she spoke with earlier approached her, handed her the wallet and said, "You must have dropped this".
According to police, the victim's credit card company contacted her later that day and told her that thousands of dollars had been spent. The suspect took three of the woman's credit cards and made several purchases in Chesapeake and Newport News.
