CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Fire Department and Public Works crews returned to a Chesapeake neighborhood Tuesday, where residents are convinced they hear the sound of a barking dog, coming from a sewer.

The search began Sunday evening when someone reported hearing the barking coming from a drain on Meadowbook Lane and Mapleton Crescent in Western Branch. Crews search for nearly five hours, but never found the animal. They returned to the scene Tuesday after the barking continued. On both occasions, firefighters searched the pipe using Public Works' underground camera.

Even after the crews left the scene late Tuesday afternoon, residents continued to search, calling for the dog and whistling. But the animal was never found.
