CHEAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake Police say a man responsible for shooting two people at a hotel was actually one of the two victims.
Kelly O'Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department said officers were dispatched to the Red Roof Inn in the 700 block of Woodlake Drive Dec. 8 and found a man shot in the chest. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
A second victim showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound later in the evening. According to O'Sullivan, that victim was actually the suspect responsible for the shooting. He has been identified as Taquan Johnson, 21, of Chesapeake.
O'Sullivan said Johnson and the victim got into an altercation and Johnson shot the vicitm. As they continued to struggle, a second shot went off, striking Johnson.
Johnson has been charged with malicious wounding, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently incarcerated at Chesapeake City Jail.
