New Chesapeake city manager named

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - James E. Baker has been named Chesapeake City Manager, according to city officials.

Backer, currently the manager of York County, S.C. will begin working in Chesapeake Jan. 14, 2013.

"The cream will always rise to the top and Jim Baker has," said Mayor Alan Krasnoff.

York County, in the metropolitan area of Charlotte, is comparable in size to Chesapeake.

Baker, a graduate of the University of Missouri, Washington University School of Law and Harvard University, previously worked in St. Louis County.
