CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A 14-year-old football player who passed away following a medical emergency during practice was remembered by his teammates during a game Friday evening.

Jhevontae Davis passed away Oct. 17 when he suffered a medical emergency during football practice at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake.

During Friday evening's game against Deep Creek High School, a moment of silence was held to remember Jhevontae. Players carried balloons and Jhevontae's jersey number was posted on the fence surrounded by a heart.

He played for Oscar Smith's Junior Varsity football team. The cause of his death has not yet been released.
