CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A week-long food drive kicked off Saturday in Chesapeake to help feed the hungry.
Organizers at the Castle Shops on South Military Highway are trying to collection 100 pounds of food. All food items will to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.
Liberty Tax Service, Boost Mobile, a Different Touch and Rent-A-Center are sponsoring the food drive.
“It’s good for the community,” Organizer Stephannie Burke told WAVY.com. “Everyone comes across hard times. Somebody could be well off by they come across a hard time, so a little bit of food here and there for a week will definitely help somebody.”
Those wanting to donate are asked to bring non-perishable foods such as canned goods, cereal and prepackaged dry foods to the Castle Shops on South Military Highway through Feb. 16.
