CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A house fire caused by a lightning strike in Chesapeake relocated a family to a hotel Saturday evening.
Robin Simpson told WAVY.com he was on his computer at his home alone Pitt Saw Lane when he heard a big bang around 5:30 p.m.
"A few minutes later my little brother came out the room and asked if I smelled smoke and I said, ' no I don't smell smoke,ββ Simpson said. βAnd then I came outside and looked through this big window and there was smoke just all throughout outside."
The fire was said to be in the attic and most of the damage to the home was caused by water.
At this time, the home is unlivable and the family is staying at a hotel for the time being.
