CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - The Chesapeake Police Department has launched an investigation after officers say a child drowned at a hotel Saturday evening.
According to Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department, officers responded to the Sleep Inn located at 3280 Western Branch Blvd. for a report of a possible drowning around 5:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, they located an 8-year-old child who had been swimming in the hotel pool, O’Sullivan said. The child was transported to Maryview Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The child’s identity has not been released at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
