CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the body of a man found along Sondej Avenue Sunday night.
Ravi Sheth with the Chesapeake Police Department said officers responded to the 5000 block of Sondej Avenue around 10 p.m. Sunday night for a call of an injured person. When officers arrived, they found a black male lying on the side of the road.
Original reports from police indicated the man was in his early to mid 20s, however, Kelly O'Sullivan with Chesapeake Police said further investigation revealed he was in his mid 40s to 50s.
Police are now asking for help to identify him and released a picture. Warning, the picture is of the deceased man's face that some might find graphic.
Police have not released any further information on whether or not the man's body had suffered any injuries.
At this time, investigators are calling his death suspicious.
If you have any information, you are urged to call Chesapeake Police at 757-651-3300 or the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
