PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - The Coast Guard announced it is suspending the search for a man who likely fell overboard Wednesday morning.
According to a news release from the Coast Guard, a 33-year-old man was reported missing from the "Ice River" 478-foot merchant vessel at approximately 10:30 a.m.
He reportedly went overboard 50 miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras.
Twelve hours later, the search for the mariner was suspended.
The Coast Guard had deployed an two Hercules crews and two Navy E-2 Hawkeye crews to assist with the search.
