CBBT closed due to high winds

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Officials closed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Wednesday evening due to high wind gusts.

According to an official with the CBBT, wind gusts between 85 and 95 mph were reported in the tunnel.

WAVY Meteorologist Don Slater said winds in that area reached 63 mph.

The tunnel remained closed through Wednesday night into Thursday.
