Banana Boat recalls spray-on sunscreen

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Banana Boat is recalling a spray-on sunscreen after reports of about half a dozen people have caught on fire after applying it.

One of those victims was Chesapeake's Mary Shoulders , who suffered third degree burns when she applied the sunscreen, waited the prescribed amount of time then stepped outside to weld.

10 On Your Side is in the process of testing Banana Boat and other spray sunscreen products.

WAVY.com emailed Banana Boat earlier this week with test results thus far, and the company announced the recalls Friday.

They say the problem appears to be with the spray valve over applying the product, not drying completely or as quickly as one may expect.
