SMITHFIELD, Va. (WAVY) - A community memorial service is scheduled for 4-month-old Baby Piper, whose death is being investigated as a first-degree murder.
The service is slated for Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at Smithfield High School.
This memorial service is also serving as a community rally against victims of child abuse, according to a press release. State delegate Rick Morris is also scheduled to attend, in addition to local pastors and community leaders.
An autopsy revealed that Piper died from a fractured skull as a result of blunt-force trauma last week. Her twin sister, Ella, was also treated for abuse at CHKD.
The twins' parents Mary Leanne Webb and Robert Molinski were both charged with felony child neglect and Molinski faces an additional first-degree murder charge.
