VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The person responsible for multiple bicycling accidents involving tacks along Pungo roads has been arrested, according to Jimmy Barnes with Virginia Beach Police Department .
Warren Dean Davis Jr., 49 of the 3900 block of Dawley Road in Virginia Beach, was arrested and served with 33 misdemeanor warrants.
Cyclist AJ Sanders was one of Davis' alledged victims in the thumb tack attack.
"It was probably eight miles into the ride and I started hearing this ticking noise," Sanders added. "I thought that it was unusual and come to find out it ended up being tacks in our tires," said Sanders.
The tacks caused 100 flat tires and injured two cyclists.
"It very well could have been worse," Sanders said.
Davis reported to Virginia Beach Police headquarters to be served warrants after speaking with investigating detective D. Fortin with the Virginia Beach Police.
This investigation has taken place for many weeks, as many victims filed destruction reports of flat bicycle tires in the Pungo section of Virginia Beach.
He has been released on $3,500 bond.
