NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Buses are scheduled to take students from Hampton and Norfolk State Universities early Monday to Washington, D.C. for President Obama's inauguration and parade.

"It's exciting to me because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity," NSU student Brittney Brown said. "I get to go and I can't wait to see what's going to happen."

Da'Quan Love, a political science major at Hampton University is full of anticipation because he said he helped register voters last fall.

"I know I'm going to have plenty of stories especially from the past year in the political campaign for the president and to have the capstone of that being that I will be at the inauguration is phenomenal," Love said.

Newport News resident Sara Jane Arnett will be attending the inauguration with her son. Arnett is an Army spouse and winner of the "Heroes at Home" award.

Soldiers and airmen from the North Carolina National Guard are making a return trip to help with the event.
