NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) personnel found an inactive grenade in a woman's carry-on luggage Friday morning at Norfolk International Airport, officials said.
Wayne Shank, Norfolk International Airport Director, told WAVY News 10 the inactive grenade was found as the woman was going through Concourse Security Checkpoint B at 6:28 a.m.
According to Shank, the woman said she forgot she had the item in her luggage.
Concourse B was shut down until 7:05 a.m. while Federal Aviation Administration workers checked the grenade.
The security delay caused the woman, and 11 other passengers waiting to board the same Delta flight, to miss their plane.
Three other passengers on an American Airlines flight also missed their plane.
