POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) - Police say two men are wanted in connection with an alleged assault on a sheriff's deputy at Owen's Marina on July 4.
Justin Stevens, 26, and Donald Stevens, 22, both of the 100 block of Hodges Cove Road in York County are sought on felony assault charges.
Police say they have warrants charging Justin Stevens with malicious wounding, assault on a law enforcement officer and committing an act of violence by mob. Donald Stevens' charges are assault on a law enforcement officer and committing an act of violence by mob.
Police ask anyone with information on the location of Justin and Donald to contact Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
Additionally, three other men were arrested in connection with the altercation.
Chief Clifford Bowen said Brent Byrum , 20, of the 1000 block Dare Road, and Brandon Byrum, 22, are charged with malicious wounding and committing an act of violence by mob. Joshua White, 20, of the 200 block of Boathouse Cove, is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and committing an act of violence by mob.
Poquson Police say a boat carrying off-duty York-Poquoson Sheriff's Deputy Layne Forrest approached another boat, named "High Pressure," at the gas pumps near the dock.
Police say the deputy and boat captain, Glen Backus, then asked the occupants of the "High Pressure" how much longer they would take to fill up.
The question sparked a verbal fight, according to police. As a result, the boat carrying the deputy parked farther away, and Forrest and Backus went to the marina for dinner.
Police say four to seven people from the "High Pressure" approached Forrest and Backus on the dock and assaulted them.
