NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Bobby Scott won Virginia's third congressional district by the largest margin yet while running opposed in his 20-year career.

Scott's challenger, Republican Dean Longo, walked away with 19 percent of the vote while Scott retained 81 percent of the vote in the district including parts of Norfolk, Newport News, Richmond and Portsmouth.

Scott, 65, even ran unopposed several times in the early 2000s and his lowest polling came in 2004 with a 69 percent win.

Longo, a republican, is a U.S. Air Force veteran and now runs a consulting firm.
