SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police say they have charged a 24-year-old man in the homicide of 60-year-old Amelia Lou Mustin.
Debbie George with the City of Suffolk says George Eure III of Suffolk turned himself in and was arrested on charges of first degree murder, abduction and shoot, cut, stab or wound charges.
Mustin's body was discovered inside a Suffolk home on the evening of July 11. Police say Eure lived with his girlfriend just two houses down from Mustin.
Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said a concerned neighbor called to report he hadn't seen Mustin and asked for a welfare check around 8:30 p.m.
"I hadn't seen my neighbor in a couple of days," neighbor Bernard Miles said. "[I was] just worried about her. She usually sits on the porch and drinks her cup of coffee."
Miles told WAVY.com he initially checked the home before calling the police.
"I rang the doorbell and went to the back door," Miles said. "The back door was unlocked. And that's when I called the police."
When police arrived on scene in the 400 block of Woodruff Street, the woman's body was located.
