NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police have arrested a teen for allegedly stabbing a woman in the back during a dispute over money Wednesday.

Police say 18-year-old Angela Torres stabbed a 20-year-old woman in the back twice. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department told WAVY.com when police arrived to the scene for the first time, the victim of the money dispute did not want to press charges. Around 12:40 p.m., the argument flared back up between the two women.

Around 1:30 p.m., Thurston told WAVY.com Torres returned to the scene and was detained.

Thurston added Torres was previously wanted in Newport News for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and is now in jail facing a malicious wounding charge.
