NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A 28-year-old woman is facing a malicious assault charge after a domestic incident turned physical, according to police.
According to Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department said officers were dispatched to the area of 76th Street and Chestnut Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a domestic situation.
When they arrived, they found the 30-year-old victim suffering from a laceration to her face. The victim told police she was involved in a verbal altercation with Lisa Leigh Allie of Newport News. At some point during the altercation, things turned physical and the victim was struck in the face with an object.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Allie was placed under arrest and charged with malicious assault.
