HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Troopers say a man driving recklessly on I-64 Tuesday led police on a chase to Thomas Nelson Community College, where he barricaded himself inside of an empty classroom.
According to Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police, troopers tried to pull over a Toyota SUV for an HOV violation just after 4 p.m. driving westbound on Interstate .
Anaya said the driver did not pull over and instead led the troopers to a Farm Fresh grocery store parking lot off Hampton Roads Center Parkway in Hampton.
Anaya said the man then got out of his car, ran into an empty audio/visual classroom at Thomas Nelson Community College, where he briefly barricaded himself.
Ravi Marquise Banks, 23, was taken into custody by troopers shortly after.
Banks is facing charges of speeding, felony pursuit, obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana and a third offense of driving with a revoked license. He is also facing an HOV violation.
