VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Police have arrested a man accused of shooting someone during an argument Friday evening.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard for several reports of gunshots. Complainants reported seeing several people running from the area.
When police responded to the scene, they found a suspect putting something into the trunk of a vehicle, Moyers said. A traffic stop was conducted and Moyers said a stolen firearm was recovered.
Hours later, police learned of a gunshot victim at a local hospital. According to Moyers, the victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg that was not life-threatening. The victim was reportedly inside a business in the 5000 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard when the suspect approached the door and got into a verbal altercation with the victim.
The suspect, identified as Donte Lamont Harris, 29, of Norfolk then fired several shots, Moyers said.
Harris has been charged with aggravated assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, receipt of a stolen firearm, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
