VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A 19-year-old is facing charges of DUI and illegal possession of alcohol after officers say he drove into a Virginia Beach McDonald’s early Monday morning.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers were dispatched to the McDonald’s located at 701 Chimney Hill Parkway for a report of a truck hitting the building. When they arrived, officers found a vehicle inside the restaurant.
According to Moyers, the truck was on fire and an employee was trying to put out the flames with an extinguisher. Everyone was evacuated from the building.
Preliminary investigation found Jaylen Ray Archer of Virginia Beach tried to park his 2003 Ford F150 truck in front of the restaurant when he struck an unoccupied parked vehicle and continued on, striking the building, Moyers said.
The truck then continued inside the restaurant, where it came to a stop.
Officers arrested Archer and charged him with DUI and illegal possession of alcohol. Moyers said he was released on bond.
The crash remains under investigation.
