Two face attempted murder charges

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Two men are facing attempted murder charges after a shooting in Portsmouth Wednesday afternoon.

Jan Clark with the Portsmouth Police Department said officers received calls for shots fired in the 1300 block of Peach Orchard Circle just before 2 p.m. Other calls indicated several males were shooting at each other.

Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old victim uninjured. According to the victim, he was with two other males earlier in the day and one of the suspects pointed a gun at him, trying to shoot.

The victim said he ran and avoided being shot as the second suspect chased him a short way.

Clark said officers arrested Keenan Laquan Moody, 19, of Portsmouth and charged him with attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police are searching fro Jahmel Tyjuan Haskett, 19, of Portsmouth in connection to the shooting. Haskett is wanted on charges of attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Anyone with information as to Haskett’s whereabouts is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Moody was also arrested in Suffolk in September, accused of shooting a pit bull.
