NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk Police have charged a 15-year-old with the shooting death of high school student.

19-year-old David White was walking home from a football game at Booker T. Washington High School Friday night, when he was shot and killed on Goff Street, according to Chris Amos with the Norfolk Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a gunshot victim around 9:15 p.m. and pronounced White dead at the scene.

White's sister Crissy Thompson told WAVY.com was stunned that her brother was killed by a 15-year-old.

"I know my brother is not here behind the gun of a 15-year-old," Thompson said. "Where did that gun come from? Who does that gun belong to? That's what I want to know."

Amos said officers arrested a 15-year-old boy early Tuesday morning in connection to White's death. The teen is charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

His identity has not been released due to his age.

Norfolk Public Schools announced Tuesday that the remaining high school varsity football games in the city will be played on Saturdays. The schedule is still being finalized, according to spokeswoman Elizabeth Thiel Mather, but Thompson said rescheduling the games to Saturday afternoons isn't enough.

"They need to move them to 9 o'clock in the morning," Thompson said. "That's what they need to do. Four o'clock Saturdays still [isn't] going to work."
