VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A man accused in the murder of a Norfolk police officer will be tried for capital murder.
Tuesday morning, it was announced Raymond Perry will face a capital murder trial in the death of Norfolk Officer Victor Decker in October 2010.
Decker was off-duty at the time of the shooting, which officials say stemmed from a robbery. His body was found next to his truck in Virginia Beach.
The judge also granted Perry's public defender Greg Turpin's request to steph down from the case. Turpin is running for Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney. If he were to win, it would create a conflict because he would be representing a man he must prosecute.
