Poquoson officer charged with rape

POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) - A Poquoson police officer was arrested Thursday morning and charged with raping a juvenile girl.

Steven McGee was taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

On Oct. 4, 2011, the Department of Social Services received a report that a juvenile had been raped by McGee.

McGee was employed by the City of Poquoson for three years as a police officer, and is no longer employed by the agency.

Anaya said the juvenile, who is between the ages of 10 and 16, was interviewed by a nurse at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, to elicit details of her abuse.

The juvenile was able to describe in detail several occasions of when and where the rapes had occurred.

Because of the age and crime, the victim's name will not be released.

Anaya said there they are not aware of any other victims.
