Police catch burglary suspect in act

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A 31-year-old man is behind bars after police say he burglarized a Kmart and was caught red handed Monday night.

Sgt. Jason Price with the Hampton Police Division said officers were dispatched to the Kmart located in the 200 block of West Mercury Boulevard around 11:40 p.m. for a report of an alarm activation. When they arrived, officers spotted a man trying to flee from the back of the store.

According to Price, the suspect, identified as Devon Eugene Bolton, Jr. of Hampton, forced his way into a side door and took jewelry and electronics.

Bolton was arrested and charged with burglary, grand larceny, possession of burglary tools and felony vandalism. He remains incarcerated in the Hampton City Jail.
