NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with Tuesday's robbery at a downtown Norfolk Wells Fargo.
According to Sgt. Major Garris with the Norfolk Police Department, the man had implied to a bank teller he had a weapon and was able to get away with an undetermined amount of cash Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. at Wells Fargo, 440 Monticello Ave.
Chris Amos with the Norfolk Police Department said Derrick Hawthorne, 47, was arrested at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Tidewater Drive.
Hawthorne is being charged with bank robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
