VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Norfolk man was arrested when he came home from allegedly robbing a Virginia Beach 7-Eleven during the early morning hours of Jan. 21.

According to Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department, a man carrying a handgun with his face covered by a green mask robbed a 7-Eleven on Newtown Road just after 1 a.m.

The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and left in a green Ford vehicle.

Moyers said two witnesses had pulled into the 7-Eleven's parking lot as the suspect was leaving and called police. Police said the suspect was then seen driving on Interstate 264 toward Norfolk. Moyers said Norfolk police officers were dispatched to the car owner's home in Norfolk in the 1000 block of Hugo Street.

When Brian Adkins, 25, got home, he was charged with robbery, abduction and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Adkins is behind bars without bond.

Moyers said the arrest was successful due to the efforts of the Virginia Beach Police Department, Norfolk SWAT Team, Norfolk Robbery Unit and Portsmouth Police Department.
