NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A 27-year-old woman is facing charges after officers say she pepper sprayed two women and assaulted an officer Thursday.

Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department told WAVY.com officers were dispatched to the Wynnwood Plaza Hotel located at 6128 Jefferson Ave. around 11:30 a.m. for a report of an assault. A victim told police she was worked at the hotel and was in a room when the suspect came in the room and told her to get out.

When the victim said she calling the manager, the suspect sprayed her with pepper spray. A second victim was also sprayed when she came out of her room as the first victim called for help.

A half hour later, officers were dispatched to the 6100 block of Jefferson Avenue for a report a disorderly woman. Complainants stated the woman was possibly intoxicated and yelling at people.

As officers attempted to arrest the woman, she became disorderly and resisted arrest by kicking one of the officers. Thurston said the officer and suspect fell to the ground, causing minor injuries to the officer.

Officers were finally able to arrest the suspect, identified as Jennifer Williams of Newport News, by using a Taser. Further investigation revealed Williams as the woman who pepper sprayed the victims at the Wynnwood Plaza Hotel, Thurston said.

Williams has been charged with two counts of malicious injury by acid/explosive/fire, assault on a law enforcement officer, trespassing and resisting arrest.
