NNPD: Fight over gun leads to stabbing

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend during a fight over a missing gun.

According to Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 4400 block of Marshall Avenue around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a domestic assault. There, they learned Clinton Tynes stabbed the 26-year-old victim in the arm while arguing about the missing gun.

Tynes reportedly slammed the victim down on the ground during the fight as well. Her wounds were said to be non-life threatening.

Eley said Tynes was charged with assault, malicious wounding, abduction by force, attempts to commit non-capital felony and receiving stolen or aiding in concealing a firearm.
