NC coach accused of sex with teen

NEW BERN, N.C. (WAVY) - Deputies say a high school football and softball coach has been charged with statutory rape for having sex with a teen girl.
Sheriff Eric Tilley with the Perquimans County Sheriff's Office says 57-year-old Harrell Thach of Herford, N.C. was arrested Monday evening and charged with statutory rape for having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Tilley says the incident did not happen at New Bern High School where Thach was a football and softball coach.
Thach is jailed under a $100,000 and will have a court appearance Wednesday morning in Hertford.
The Sheriff's Office did not have information on the date of the crime.
