NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police are searching for the man responsible for robbing a Family Dollar Monday morning.
Officer Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said the robbery occurred around 9:15 a.m. in the 6000 block of Jefferson Avenue. An unknown white male entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded cash.
After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the store on foot toward Marshall Avenue through the Riverlands apartment complex nearby.
No one was injured.
The suspect is described as having a patchy beard and was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood down at the time of the robbery. He was caught on the store’s surveillance.
