SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say a man is behind bars after attacking his nephew, pouring gasoline on him and stabbing him using a box cutter.

According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, police were dispatched to the 100 block of Greenfield Crescent at 11:30 p.m. Monday evening for a stabbing call. Officers on scene said they found the victim, Jeffrey Snow, who walked away from them at first.

Klink said Snow was bleeding uncontrollably from the left side of his torso and told officers he had been drinking at his godmother's home. He said he left the home and walked along Carolina Road, when he was approached by his uncle, whom he lives with.

Snow said his uncle, Walter Smith, Jr., attacked him and poured gas from a gas can on him, stating, 'I'mma light you a fire.' Snow said Smith then pulled out a box cutter and stabbed him.

Snow was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Smith was arrested for malicious wounding by caustic substance, malicious wounding and shoot/cut/stab or wound.
