SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say a man who sped away from police and ran off the road crashing his vehicle tried to hide from police by sitting atop a camper unit.
According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, police saw a blue Acura speeding in the area of the 7100 block of Crittenden Road just after 10 p.m. March 1.
The officer pursued the suspect, who increased his speed and ran off the road in the 6500 block of Crittenden Road. The officer saw the suspect, Reginald Thomas Boothe, run from the scene into a field.
Klink said Boothe was found a short time later with the assistance of K-9 units sitting on top of a camper unit parked in the 1800 block of Cotton Farm Lane.
Boothe was charged with felony elude, driving while suspended, reckless driving and speeding in relation to the March 1 incident, as well as five outstanding warrants, four of which were for felony charges.
