Man pleads guilty to sex abuse of child

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Norfolk man pleaded guilty to various sex abuse and child porn charges and was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison, according to Macie Pridgen with the Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney.

Darryl Wayne Gandy, 39, pleaded guilty Tuesday on charges of aggravated sexual battery, three counts of producing child pornography and possession of child pornography. Initially, Gandy was sentenced to 30 years, half of which have been suspended.

Pridgen says Gandy had sexually assaulted a young child he knew multiple times between April 13, 2005 and April 12, 2006.

An adult had uncovered Gandy's nude photographs of the child and contacted police.

Gandy has prior convictions for indecent exposure and two counts of domestic assault.
