VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Two homicide suspects were not able to elude police for long after a shooting at the Oceanfront Sunday morning.

Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 19th Street municipal parking lot on Pacific Avenue around 1:30 a.m. for a report of gunshots. There, officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as Divon Tyrek Beckwith-Hall, 24, of Virginia Beach was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Through their investigation, detectives learned the victim was involved in a dispute in the parking lot with the suspects,” Moyers said in a release.

Two suspects, Alonzo Eddie Phelps, 33 and Damian Lamar Dennis, 26, both of Hampton, were taken into custody a short time later, Moyers said.

A family member of Beckwith-Hall said he was working for Pepsi and had just gotten engaged, scheduled to be married next month.

"They just got their wedding license and everything," Powell Hall said. "It is devastating. He was a great young man. Never got in any trouble. I can't really understand what went on down there."

Phelps and Dennis been charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. They are being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
