NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Police are searching for a man who robbed a Newport News Family Dollar Thursday evening.
Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said an unknown black male entered the Family Dollar located at 6000 Jefferson Avenue around 7 p.m. and demanded money at gunpoint.
Several people were in the store but no one was injured, Eley said. The suspect forced all employees and customers to the back of the store as he fled out of the front door with cash from the register.
The suspect is described as standing 5’6” to 5’9” with a thin build and medium completion. He was wearing faded blue jeans, a grey shirt with writing on it, white shoes, blue bucket hat with a do-rag underneath, brown sunglasses and a medical mask on his face.
