NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAYV) - A Newport News man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Thursday for his participation in a drug trafficking organization in several states.
According to Peter Carr with the U.S. Attorney's Office in Newport News, 38-year-old Kevin G. Forde, aka Miami Kev, will spend 25 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.
Forde pleaded guilty in November 2012 on charges of drug conspiracy, distribution of cocaine and illegal use of a communication device.
He was charged with several co-defendants last summer for his participation in a drug organization operating in New York, California, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas. The organization would supply the "Thug Relations" street gang in Newport News with cocaine and marijuana. Forde was a buyer and seller of drugs from 1999 until 2011.
